The World Is Watching - Digital Bridges and
PacketVideo Collaborate to Bring Multimedia to Wireless Games
Digital Bridges Ltd., one of the worlds foremost creators and
suppliers of games and entertainment services for mobile devices and the
wireless Internet, today announced an agreement with PacketVideo, the recognized
leader in wireless multimedia, to collaborate on the introduction of media rich
video and animation into the next generation wireless games.
While Digital Bridges and its development partners utilise current wireless
technology for the creation of innovative and compelling content for the current
generation of mobile handsets, the pace of technology is such that within a very
short period it will be possible to incorporate much more complex and advanced
graphics into games and entertainment services provided through the wireless
Internet.
Games designed for mobile devices already have a number of unique advantages
over other platforms. The inherent communications abilities of the device, the
constant proximity to the owner and the client-server relationship between the
phone and the processing centre, mean that it is possible to create very
large-scale multi-player games. Digital Bridges UNITY technology means that this
ability can be extended over multiple network technologies, territories and
languages, offering the first truly global audience. The ability to combine
these features with the video and animation capabilities enabled by
PacketVideo's technology will provide consumers with an enhanced graphical
experience. Both companies have agreed to explore the integration of
PacketVideo's advanced delivery capabilities into Digital Bridges UNITY
system.
According to Robert Tercek, president of PacketVideos Applications and
Services Division, Digital Bridges is acknowledged as a pioneer and leader in
the area of wireless entertainment. Their focus on the creation of quality
content and their relationships with a rapidly increasing number of world-class
developers from the games and entertainment industries made them an obvious
partner for PacketVideo. As mobile games increase in popularity, we're
convinced that the partnership between PacketVideo and Digital Bridges will
produce the most advanced and attractive games available to mobile
users.¨
Kevin Bradshaw, CEO and founder of Digital Bridges, added,
PacketVideos highly advanced technology and focus on wireless delivery
integrates perfectly into Digital Bridges vision, namely the creation and
delivery of the highest possible quality content from ourselves and our
development partners. Our UNITY technology is already a world leader in the
mobile entertainment server space. By giving our developers access to the rich,
graphical capabilities presented by PacketVideo, we are ensuring that we remain
at the cutting edge of wireless entertainment design and
technology.¨ ENDS.
